Public Works Wraps Up Final Budget Discussion

The town council heard a budget presentation from Public Works at the third and final budget discussion with the Town Manager.

The town council heard a budget presentation from Public Works Wednesday night at the third and final scheduled budget discussion with the Town Manager.

The presentation highlighted the need for several projects not currently in the budget. They include a $10,000 tire machine needed to replace the large tires on town vehicles and fire trucks. The current replacement technique, which is extremely physically demanding, has proven to be a safety hazard, according to the presentation.

The list also called for a $5,000 purchase of GPS trackers for half of the town's trucks, half of which are already equipped with the devices. They provide a live feed of where the trucks are, and also monitor the vehicle's speed and, if salting, how much salt a truck is distributing as it travels.
