November Election for Probate Judge as Twerdy Resigns

With Probate Judge Claire Twerdy resigning in July, an election in Tolland, Mansfield, Coventry and Willington has been called for her replacement.

Gov. Dannel Malloy's office issued this news release on calling for a special election this November in Tolland, Mansfield, Coventry and Willington to replace Probate Judge Claire C. Twerdy:

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that an election to fill a vacancy for Judge of Probate for the Tolland-Mansfield Probate District, which is comprised of Coventry, Mansfield, Tolland and Willington, will be held during the next general election on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014.

The seat is anticipated to become vacant on July 3, 2014, following the retirement of the incumbent, Probate Judge Claire C. Twerdy.

Under state law, upon a vacancy for Judge of Probate, the Governor is required to issue a Writ of Election and select a date.  Governor Malloy is filing the writs with the town clerks for each of the respective municipalities today.
