Tolland Budget Vote Slated for May 7

Three polling places are to be used.

The referendum to decide the fate of Tolland's proposed $51.8 million budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year is scheduled for May 7. 

Here is an overview: 

• The budget question reads, "Shall the Town of Tolland's proposed 2013-2014 budget of $51,844,725, reflecting a spending increase of $482,491, or 0.94 percent, which is equal to a 0.67 percent tax increase of .20 mills compared to the current mill rate and requiring a tax rate of 30.19 mills be adopted?" Yes/No.

• A yes vote is for approval of the budget. 

• A no vote is for disapproval of the budget. 

• Districts 1 and 3 will vote at the Hicks Municipal Center gymnasium, 21 Tolland Green. 

• District 2 will vote at the Tolland Senior Center, 674 Tolland Stage Rd.

• Registered voters can apply for an absentee ballot at the town clerk's office.

• Paper ballots wile used at both polling places. 

• Voting will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
