For the third year in a row, Tolland has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association with the Distinguished Budget Award, an honor given to towns that meet principles of government budgeting, as well as nationally recognized budget presentation guidelines, according to an e-blast sent out by the town.
The town's budget had to rate well in four categories: policy document; financial plan; operations guide and communications device, and also meet other required criteria, according to the town's announcement.
Fewer than 20 Connecticut towns have been given the award, the announcement said.
