Town Council Approves Hurricane Sandy Payment

Tolland will transfer $121,976 to the emergency storm fund.

The town council approved the transfer of $121,976 to Tolland's newly created emergency storm fund to pay for the expenses of Hurricane Sandy at its Tuesday meeting.

According to the meeting agenda, the storm price tag of $112,000 breaks down as follows:

  • $30,301.50 in overtime (Administration, Public Safety, Public Works, Human Services)
  • $3,777.71 in FICA, Medicare, pension expenses
  • $3,449.37 for supplies
  • $60,471.45  in estimated operational costs
  • $14,000 in estimated future costs

The funds are all left over FEMA aid from Hurricane Irene and the October snowstorm.

Town Manager Steven Werbner said that FEMA has not yet determined if Tolland is eligible for federal reimbursement for Hurricane Sandy damage.
