Town Council to Vote on Grant Agreement; Project Appropriations

Permanent Celebration Committee, 7 p.m., River of Life Church, Twin Ponds Plaza, Route 195. This committee prepares for the Memorial Day Parade, Holiday Tree Lighting and Tolland’s 300th Year Anniversary Celebration.

Water Commission Workshop, 6:30 p.m., Place: TBA. The commission will hold a work shop on a possible rate increase and will discuss items for the Town Council, as well.

Town Council, 7:30 p.m., Council Chambers, Hicks Memorial Municipal Building. The council will be voting on several items, including:

  • A resolution approving up to $1,542,944 in bonds and notes to finance council projects. The resolution also calls for a public hearing on July 26. Some of the projects include $566,961 for road and parking lot pavement improvements, $60,000 for drainage, $396,215 for a replacement roof at Tolland Public Library and $216,738 for improvements to Tolland Intermediate School.
  • A resolution that would allow the Town Manager to sign an agreement with the State of Connecticut and Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security to participate in the Fiscal Year 2010 Homeland Security Grant Program and Fiscal Year 2010 Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant Program. The program aims to benefit public safety by expanding regional collaboration, improving medical preparation and response and funding public outreach and awareness programs, among other goals.

Wednesday, July 13

Energy Task Force Special Meeting, 7 p.m., Council Chambers, Hicks Memorial Municipal Center. The task force will discuss goal planning and the status of the Hicks Building Project.

Thursday, July 14

Conservation Commission, 7 p.m., Council Chambers, Hicks Memorial Municipal Center.
