Town Manager Presents Proposed 2012-2013 Budget

The proposed budget calls for a 1.04 percent tax increase.

Town Manager Steven Werbner's 2012-2013 proposed budget has been released and is available in detail on the town's website.

In the budget summary, Werbner recommends a 1.97 percent expenditures increase, which would result in a 1.04 percent tax increase, or, a .31 mill increase.

According to the summary, this means that Tolland citizens with property categorized in the low, moderate and high assessed range would see property tax increases of $38, $61 and $117, respectively.

"In these economic times, budgets must focus less on the wants of the organization and more on our ability to sustain over time essential services and programs and to be positioned for recovery, no matter how long that may take," Werbner said.

In the proposed budget, town operational services costs increased .74 percent and the Board of Education budget increased 3 percent.
