'Energy' Still Flowing at Budget Workshops, School Board Member Says

Potential cost-saving measures were discussed.

The chairwoman of the Tolland Board of Education's Communications Committee called this week's budget workshop, "A lot of continued energy from last week."

Karen Moran on Thursday said a main focus of the gathering, which took place on Wednesday after the regular Board of Education meeting, was potential cost-saving measures.

One was relocating Board of Education offices to an unused space inside a school building, she said.

She said potential energy savings alone would be greater than $11,000 with such a move. She said a potential use or current market value of the current school board building on Tolland Green was not formally discussed.

"It was an exercise in having people throw out any type of idea,"Moran said.

Four town council members - Jan Rubino, George Baker, Paul Krasusky and Chairman Jack Scavone attended the meeting.

The Board of Education budget workshops continue on Wednesday, Jan. 29, with a meting scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Tolland High School library.
