New Preschool Opens in Tolland

The New Life Christian Preschool, located at the First Baptist Church of Tolland, is non-denominational.

Tolland's New Life Christian Preschool may not start off the school year until September 4, but residents from as far away as Eastford, Stafford and Willington are already enrolled and ready to learn.

The new school, located at , focuses on promoting spiritual, educational and emotional growth for its 3- and 4-year-old students.

Director Kim Cargill is bringing 25 years of educational experience to the school. She and assistant teacher Sheri Popovitch previously worked together at the Ellington Christian Nursery School.

"I just always knew it was what I was supposed to do," Cargill said of her work in education.

Children will participate in daily arts and crafts, bible stories, learning center time and playtime on the outdoor playground, weather permitting, according to the daily schedule.

The New Life Christian Preschool, which is non-denominational, will offer a class for 4-year-olds on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The 3-year-old class is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The school is also offering an extended "lunch bunch" for the 4-year-olds on Mondays and Wednesdays for an extra $10 per day. A labeled lunch must be provided for each child.

Parents can learn more at the school's open house, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on August 25. Registrations are still being accepted.
