TMS Gym Teacher on Administrative Leave

Tozier is facing charges of second-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace for an incident that took place at TMS in June 2012.

physical education teacher Steven Tozier has been placed on administrative leave, Superintendent William Guzman confirmed.

Guzman said that a substitute teacher has been hired to teach his classes when school begins on Wednesday, August 29.

Tozier is after he allegedly placed a 13-year-old male student in a headlock while on the stairway on the way to class, according to the case affidavit.

He is due in Rockville Superior Court on September 6.

Oh my goodness! This entire thing just shouldn't have happened he is an AMAZING teacher and all of the kids love him every one of the students were upset when they couldn't say goodbye to him on the last day of school. He know how to make kids laugh, have fun in class, keep on task, let thekids be kids but step in when needed to. He seriously is probably the best teacher in the school no questions asked, that's why this thing is ridiculous he was joking around with the kid the kid took it WAY out of porpotion he would harm a fly. Trust me I know him personally.

I had Mr. Tozier as a high school gym teacher about 7 years ago. He was always funny, one to joke around, and a cool teacher to have. This "Head lock" I am sure was a joke and some little kid blew this whole thing out of proportion not realizing the damage he's caused. Tolland parents are over reacting when they have never even met the guy. Jeez, this just makes me angry. People these days, you can't even look at or talk to someone the wrong way without things becoming out of proportion. I liked having him as a teacher. He was always made class fun, while encouraging us to work hard and you weren't scared to joke around with him as you would be with some teachers. This is just very sad for him because I doubt he deserves this. You can't ruin a man life based on an accusation a 13 year old kid made. This angers me and many, many Tolland students who know just how far from the truth this is.
