Grand Opening of the Palmer Kendall Mountain Conservation Area

From the Town of Tolland:

The Grand Opening of the Palmer Kendall Mountain Conservation Area will be held on Sunday, October 23 at 1:00 pm.

The property is located on the north side of Kendall Mountain Road (a dirt road) between Sugar Hill Road and Cook Road.  There is limited parking in the property’s parking lot, so please park on only one side of the road. The event will begin with a brief opening talk and then Conservation Corps members will guide hikers on the looped trail. The moderate hike encompasses two of three elevation high points on the property (one being the second highest point in Tolland at 962 feet above sea level), crosses a stream, progresses through beautiful stands of Mountain Laurel (the State flower) and has views of an old working quarry. Allow 1½ to 2 hours for the event. Please wear appropriate footwear. Refreshments will be served.
