Star Hill Triathlon is Truly Unique

The nearly all indoor race, one of a few of its kind in the area, took place on Sunday.

The pool.

The exercise bikes.

Running around a large inflatable building.

Not your average triathlon, but that's what makes the event at the Star Hill Family Athletic Center in Tolland so unique.

The first set of participants went off at 8 a.m. in Sunday and, in all, both adults and children ran in seven different heats.

For adults, the race consisted of a 30-meter swim in Star Hill's pool, a jaunt to the exercise rooms for a 10-mile ride on exercise bikes and a 5-kilometer run around the Star Hill Complex.

For the younger athletes, the race was made up of a 200-meter swim, a 5-mile bike ride and a mile-and-a-half run.
