The Soccer Game Before the Storm

Despite the hurricane conditions, hundreds of soccer enthusiasts came to Tolland Middle School to compete.

The Tolland Soccer Club didn't let slow it down.

Despite rainy weather from the incoming storm, the club hosted the Sixth Annual 3v3 Play with Pride Tournament all day Saturday at Tolland Middle School.

Around 500 youth soccer players and 91 teams played all day to qualify for the Challege 3v3 Tournament, which will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

Tolland Soccer Club member Eric Person admitted that the weather was a "bit of a setback," but said that the tournament was overall a success, with all 91 teams showing up to play.

Griswold U-10 coach Amy Fabry said that the joy of the game overcame any worries about some rain.

According to Person, the Tolland Soccer Club will use the funds raised from the tournament to continue to support the high school team and local soccer.
