Tolland All-Stars Wrap-Up

The 11-year-old and 12-year-old boys advance; 9- and 10-year-old girls lose to South Windsor.

11-Year-Old All-Stars

Tolland vs. Somers

The Tolland 11-year-old All-Stars advanced to the next round in the District 8 tournament after an 11-1 win against Somers All-Stars Tuesday night.

According to Coach Kris Popovitch, the team qualified for the double elimination bracket after tying for second place in the pool division.

Tolland led an aggressive offense on Tuesday with the first three players in the line-up accounting for seven hits. Jack Carmody had three hits and two RBIs.

Clayton Keane followed strong with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Andrew Jaworski finished the powerful line-up with two hits. Fellow teammate Matt Abbate also contributed with a double.

On the defensive end, pitchers Jack Carmody, Clayton Keane and Jason Clough threw their way to the essential win for Tolland in the 10- and 11-year-old divison tournament.

Clough, in particular, kept tight control over the game, allowing just one hit and striking out six batters in his three innings. Matt Abbate also had a great defensive night, and Luke Adlerstein held Somers to just one run from center field with his solid throwing arm.

Tolland vs. Manchester

On Thursday night, Tolland won again, beating the Manchester National Team 12-2 at Cross Farms Field. 

The team showed its offensive strength scoring nine runs in the first inning. Andrew Jaworski slammed away two home runs, and Kyle Boutot added a third. Jack Carmody also had two hits, including a two-run double. 

Jaworski, Clayton Keane and Patrick Regan all took a turn on the pitcher's mound.

12-Year-Old All-Stars

Tolland vs. Stafford

The 12-year-old All-Stars beat Stafford 10-5 after a slow start Thursday night. Stafford was ahead, 5-2, for the first two innings. Tolland came back in the third inning with two runs, almost closing the gap to 5-4. 

Matt Curtis and Dan Steiner locked up Stafford's offense for the rest of the game.

Tolland continued with a solid offense, scoring six runs in the fifth inning. Matt Curtis hit a double with the bases loaded, and Devin Aldrich hit a two-run home run.

Altogether, Tolland had 12 hits: Dan Steiner contributed three hits, including his home run. Matt Curtis, Jacob Simon and Sean Kelly each had two hits. Defensively, Matt Holyst had a solid night for Tolland.

On the Stafford team, Mike Bachiochi had three hits. Luke Broadhurst and Zach Kulman also got two hits each. Kulman and Hunter Davis pitched for the game.

9- and 10-Year-Old All-Star Softball

South Windsor vs. Tolland

South Windsor defeted the Tolland softball All-Stars, 6-5. Tolland started out strong with Jessica LeBel and Vanessa Purpura running the bases aggressivey in the first inning.

South Windsor rallied with great hitting. Amber Kelly had two hits and a run.

In the sixth-inning, Zoe Tomkunas scored the tying run. Laura Hay's double and Maria Hanchuk's two runs clinched the win for South Windsor.

South Windsor will play Stafford in the District 8 finals on Saturday.
