Tolland Little League All-Stars See Mixed Results

Baseball

The 9- to 10-year-old boys all-star team lost Tuesday at home to Enfield, 7 to 4. They will play Manchester American Thursday night in Manchester.

The 10- to 11-year-old team fared better than their younger counterparts, defeating Manchester National 11 to 1.

Coach of the 10- to 11-year-old team, Robert Keane, wrote in an e-mail after the game that Tolland's hitting stars included "Clayton Keane who was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI's, and Andrew Jaworski, who had a 3 RBI double and Patrick Regan, who also smashed a double." 

In addition to his performance at the plate, "Jaworski also tossed a 3-hitter with 7 strikeouts and struck out the side on 10 pitches in his final inning of work," Keane wrote.

Tolland player Jason Clough also took to the mound where he threw a terrific inning, Keane wrote. 

Tolland 10- and 11-year-old all stars will next play on Thursday at Lions Field against Ellington.

Softball

In softball, the 9- to 10-year-old District 8 All-Star team defeated Ellington 3-2 on Tuesday. 

For Tolland, Kacie Shea, Sarah Swanson, and Peytenne Provost excelled, while on the Ellington team Erin Hayes, Sarah Olender, and Sarah Nedwick were noted as standouts.

Tolland will play Stafford at home Thursday afternoon.
