Tolland Little League All-Stars Set to Play This Weekend

A wrap up of the Little League All-Star baseball and softball tournament heading into the holiday weekend.

On Thursday, the 9-to 10-year-old softball team lost at home to Stafford 5 to 0. The team will play Windsor today (July 2) in Tolland as part of the double elimination round.

Thursday was also a good day for the 9- to 10-year-old baseball all-star team that defeated Windsor Locks by a score of 26 to 1. Despite ending the pool play with a 3-2 record, the Tolland team did not make it into the double elimination round of the tournament.

The 10- to 11-year-old team will play Thompsonville today (July 2) in Tolland in its fourth roud of pool play. The Tolland team's record is currently 1-1 with a 9 to 5 loss to Ellingotn on Thursday and an 11 to 1 victory over Manchester National on June 28th.

The 11- to 12-year-old tournament got underway Friday with Tolland defeating East Windsor 12 to 0. Tolland will play Windsor Locks today (July 2) at Windsor Locks.

In the four-inning game, Jacob Simon, Dan Steiner and Matt Curtis combined to throw a no-hitter and struck out 10 East Windsor batters, according to an e-mail from Rebecca Curtis.

Tolland had 16 hits including homeruns from Matt Curtis and Eric Gottier. Tolland scored three in the first and nine in the second, according to Rebecca Curtis.
