TYSCT Presents 'Brigadoon' Starting July 27

The annual Tolland summer musical will run July 27 and 28 at Tolland High School.

Tolland residents can take a quick evening trip to the highlands of Scotland as the Tolland Youth Services Community Theater presents 'Brigadoon,' on July 27 and 28.

Audience members will be able to enjoy the beautiful music and lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, intricate Irish step dancing and an important message for Tolland youth and residents.

The musical, which follows the adventures of two New Yorkers who discover the magical village of 'Brigadoon,' features more than 60 Tolland performers and crew members.

"There's a really great message to believe in yourself, and to believe in love and the impossible," said director Danielle Jones, who was once a TYSCT performer herself.

"We try to find a message that will have some kind of meaning for the kids that are involved as well as being enjoyable for them," added producer and Youth Services Coordinator Nancy Dunn of selecting a show for each summer's production.

The hard work of previous TYSCT musicals has certainly paid off, since a large number of the show's staff are veterans of the program.

"It's been amazing," said Jones, who started performing in the summer musicals in seventh grade. "It's so surreal to have been a part of it and now to be directing."

'Brigadoon' runs on July 27 and 28 at , starting at 7 p.m.  Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door. For more information call 860-871-3612.
