Rockville Bank Foundation Becomes Latest Anniversary Sponsor

TOLLAND – The Rockville Bank Foundation has become the latest major sponsor to support the Tolland 300th Anniversary Celebration planned for 2015.
Through the leadership of the Rockville Bank Team and its Tolland Branch, the Foundation has pledged $5,000 toward the celebration and will be designated as a “Settlers Rock”-level sponsor. Rockville Bank’s Tolland Branch is located at 6 Fieldstone Commons.
The Bank will be honored June 25 by the Tolland town council, Tolland 300th Anniversary Committee and the Tolland Historical Society at a council meeting at 7:30 p.m. at town hall.
“The Rockville Bank Foundation and the entire Rockville Bank Team are honored to have the opportunity to be a part of such a historic event while helping to give Tolland and its residents of all ages an anniversary celebration they truly deserve,’’ said William H.W. Crawford, IV, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rockville Bank. “Tolland has been home to a wonderful Rockville Bank branch since 2005 and it’s only fitting that we are a major sponsor in marking this special milestone.”
Celeste Senechal, chairwoman of the anniversary committee, said the committee and society are thrilled to receive the pledge.
“The anniversary committee and historical society are grateful to the Rockville Bank Foundation for its generous donation,’’ she said. “We are excited that they will be our partner as we plan our celebration for 2015.”
The anniversary committee and the Historical Society are planning months of events in 2015 so that the landmark will be remembered as an inclusive, townwide celebration.
Events will include a Charter Day celebration on May 12, 2015 to mark the actual 300th anniversary of the day when the state granted residents a charter to form their own town.
A gala is planned for May 16, 2015. A number of civic groups will hold 300th-anniversary-themed events and the Historical Society will publish an updated history of Tolland.
Other 2015 projects include a commemorative program, a heritage trail of historic markers and a monument honoring the 59 original landowners who first asked the state to make Tolland its own town.
The celebration will culminate on Sept. 19, 2015 with a large regional parade and a townwide picnic.
Businesses can support the celebration at one of several funding levels. Residents can be part of a new Tolland 300 Club by donating $300. Checks should be made out to the Town of Tolland, with “300th anniversary committee” in the memo line. Donations can be mailed to the Tolland 300th Anniversary Committee, Town Hall, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084.
