Tolland Boys Drop Home Opener

The Tolland High School Boys Soccer team dropped its home opener to league favorite RHAM, 5-2, in their home opener at Cross Farms on Friday.

Despite going down 2-0 in the first half hour, Tolland fought back to tie the match just 37 seconds into the second half on two goals by senior Alex Weekes.  The first, a thirty year free kick into the upper corner of the net brought the Eagles to within one at halftime.  A long Jordan Smith throw in resulted in a scrum in front of the net with Weekes poking the ball into the net to tie the match.

The Eagles continued to press the Sachems for another ten minutes, but a quick counterattack by RHAM led to a penalty kick which Ben Lawrence converted for a 3-2 lead.  RHAM added two more goals within ten minutes to secure the 5-2 final.

With the loss, Tolland drops to 1-1 and 0-1 in the CCC East on the season.  RHAM is 2-0 and 1-0 in the CCC East.  The Eagles travel to Rockville on Monday at 3:45 pm to meet the Rockville Rams.
