American Lung Association Celebrates National Volunteer Week

Dr. Samuel Pope, of Tolland, is being highlighted by the American Lung Association of the Northeast for exceptional volunteerism.

The week of April 21st is recognized as National Volunteer Appreciation Week. The American Lung Association of the Northeast celebrates their beloved volunteers year-round, with more than 22,000 who lend their support, but recognizes truly exceptional volunteers on this occasion.

“Each of our volunteers is a perfect example of how one person can make a difference,” said Jeff Seyler, President & CEO of the American Lung Association of the Northeast. “We could not do what we do without their support and we are thankful for them every day.”

Dr. Samuel Pope, of Tolland, has been a volunteer with the American Lung Association since 2010. As a board certified pulmonologist at Connecticut Multispecialty Group, he is always willing to share his vast knowledge and expertise whenever needed. His passion for lung health and for the Lung Association and its mission always shines through but is most evident when he speaks to participants of both COPD Educator Institutes and Asthma Educator Institutes. Dr. Pope is truly committed to improving patients’ lung health and takes special care to ensure that professionals he teaches have the knowledge and tools they need to help their patients best manage their disease and achieve optimal health.   To learn more about volunteer opportunities in your area, contact Judy Deane, Director of Volunteer and Board Development for the American Lung Association of the Northeast at jdeane@LungNE.org.
