Mr. Gym Rocks Tolland High School

Adam's Adventure organized the fundraiser featuring Birch Grove physical education teacher Chris Keithan.

Tolland families gathered at on Friday evening to see a local rock star and to support a great cause.

Birch Grove Primary School's Chris Keithan, also known as Mr. Gym, headlined a concert that raised funds for Adam's Adventure, which aims to build an ADA-accessible playground at .

The organization is named after Tolland resident Adam Mlodzinski, who after contracting meningitis. Adam's story inspired Keithan to reach out and help.

"Adam was in my second-grade class," Keithan said, describing his reaction after hearing about Adam's story. "It kind of hit me down deep inside. So I said, let me know when you want to do a show for Adam. It's the least I can do to help a good cause."

And Keithan was a big help. According to Adam's Adventure member Cathy Madore, the group sold just under 450 tickets to Friday's show, for a gross total of $4,420 raised. Some of the funds will be used to pay for the event's food and staff, Madore said.

Kate Mlodzinski, Adam's mother, thanked Keithan and the community for their support.

"It's a great turnout," she said. "The community support blows us away every time."
