Foodshare, the food bank for greater Hartford, announced at its annual board meeting last month that Thomas Buckingham, a resident of Tolland, has been elected to the organization’s board.

Buckingham, executive vice president for The Phoenix Companies, Inc., is currently responsible for all product- and service-related functions at his company, and is excited to bring this expertise to a nonprofit organization.

Buckingham is coming onto the Foodshare board just as the organization is launching the public phase of their Bridging the Gap Campaign. This includes a Movement to Solve Hunger, engaging 30,000 people in anti-hunger work here in Connecticut.

“Tom has a real passion for Foodshare’s work, and a thorough understanding of the systemic issues we need to address if we are to get at the root of hunger. He will undoubtedly bring a wealth of knowledge to our organization,” said Gloria McAdam, President & CEO of Foodshare.
