The $56 million public high school opened in 2006 with a state-of-the-art media center, auditorium, sports fields and other facilities. In addition to the typical curriculum, the school offers a full range of specialized courses, including entrepreneurship, advanced Web page design, film studies, music technology, environmental science, criminology and principles of engineering.

While there is an emphasis on academic achievement and critical thinking skills, the school also encourages honesty, self-worth and creativity. With its brick facade and narrow hallways, it's no wonder this building was one of the schools used to portray a quintessential New England school in a recent, wide release film. Former home to the Tolland High School with its state-of-the-art outdoor sports facilities, the Tolland Middle School opened at its new location in 2007.
