Good News Friday: Talented Musicians, New Businesses in Tolland

This edition of Good News Friday brings you details some great performances by THS, a new pet sitting service and a new place to buy your annuals and vegetables.

April was a hot month for the Tolland High School Music Department as dozens of students participated in a variety of festivals and competitions.

In early April, seven students were selected and participated in the Connecticut All-State Music Festival, according to a great announcement posted on the Tolland Patch site.

In late April, 84 students who were part of four ensembles that took part in Festivals of Music in Virginia Beach were awarded with either a rating of excellent or superior for their performances.

To top it off, student Marissa Bedard, an accomplished flute player, received the Connecticut Association of Schools award for Excellence in Music.

Tolland will welcome two news businesses to town this week: a pet sitter and a new greenhouse.

Sandi the Pet Nanny available for "trips to the vet, dog sitting and caring for your pet while you are away on vacation or business," according to this announcement on the site.

No pets, but in need of annuals for your garden? The Lemek Farm Greenhouse is holding its grand opening today (May 3) at its Goose Lane facility. Owner Les Lemek, a Tolland native and former owner of Tolland Florist & Nursery, invites you to "stop by and pick up some beautiful hanging baskets for your porch, some colorful annuals for your flower beds, and some vegetables for your garden."
